چکیده

It is well known that the behavior of diverse multicomponent systems such as fibrous composites, particle—filled polymers, polymer blends, and pigmented coatings depends not only on the composition, morphology, and properties of the constituents, but also on the nature of the interfacial region. This paper reviews typical examples, with emphasis on interpretation of interactions between constituents considered in terms of Lewis acids or bases.

Mechanical properties of carbon nanotube/polymer composites

The remarkable mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes, such as high elastic modulus and tensile strength, make them the most ideal and promising reinforcements in substantially enhancing the mechanical properties of resulting polymer/carbon nanotube composites. It is acknowledged that the mechanical properties of the composites are significantly influenced by interfacial interactions between...

The Interphase Influences on the Particle-Reinforced Composites with Periodic Particle Configuration

This work improved upon an effective micromechanical method to analyze the mechanical properties of three-dimensional particle-reinforced composites (PRC) with consideration of the interfacial debonding. By incorporating the interfacial debonding model, Mises yield criterion, and failure theory, the effects of particle shape, particle volume fraction, and loading condition on the mechanical pro...

Effect of Fiber Surface Treatment on Wear Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polyamide 6 Composites

Ozone modification method and air-oxidation were used for the surface treatment of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber. The surface characteristics of carbon fibers were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The interfacial properties of carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 6 (CF/PA6) composites were investigated by means of the single fiber pull-out tests. As a result...

Analysis of Laminated Soft Core Sandwich Plate Having Interfacial Imperfections by an Efficient C0 FE Model

An efficient C0 continuous two dimensional (2D) finite element (FE) model is developed based on a refined higher order shear deformation theory (RHSDT) for the static analysis of soft core sandwich plate having imperfections at the layer interfaces. In this (RHSDT) theory, the in-plane displacement field for the face sheets and the core is obtained by superposing a globally varying cubic displa...

Vibration of two bonded composites: effects of the interface and distinct periodic structures

Small elastic vibrations of two particulate composites that are caused by a non-plane time-harmonic wave are investigated. Effects of the adhesive interface and distinct periodic structures on the transmission and reflection of acoustic waves are rigorously analyzed. A two-scale asymptotic expansion with interfacial correctors is introduced to account for the macroand micromechanical effects on...

Effects of Matrix Modification on the Mechanical Properties of Wood–Polypropylene Composites

Polypropylene (PP) modified with two reactive monomers, divinyl benzene (DVB) and maleic anhydride (MAH), was used as the matrix to prepare wood–polypropylene composites to improve interfacial compatibility. The effects of the co-modified PP matrices with different DVB concentrations on the mechanical properties of the composites were evaluated. Compared with unmodified composites and the compo...
